Theatre director Veijo Baltzar

Veijo Baltzar has done a long career as a theatre director and pedagogue. He has written and directed his own plays since 1976. Today Veijo Baltzar leads Integration Theatre Baltzar in which he directs his plays annually (Alexander theatre, Helsinki).
As a theatre director, Veijo Baltzar has always pursued unique expression that would not follow the traditional mainstream theatre. Drom theatre, established by Baltzar in 1976 based its expression on the spiritual roots of Romani culture. At the same, Drom theatre pursued authentic expression based not so much on acting but on expression stemming from the inner self of the actor. These starting points are ever more strongly present in Baltzar’s works.
